Boko Haram Was Planning to Declare Their Own Country-Tukur

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, has revealed that the declaration of a State of Emergency in some parts of the nation by President Goodluck Jonathan, was part of preemptive measures taken against Boko Haram who were planning to declare their own Islamic state in those areas of Nigeria under their cotrol. It would be recalled that Senator Ahmed Zanna, a Senator representing Borno Central, had revealed just last week that Boko Haram then (last week) controlled 24 out of the 27 Local Government Areas of Borno state.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja earlier today Tukur had said "They were even planning to declare a state of their own and these happened because many of us believed that the menace of terrorism has been a problem for the north alone.”

It would be recaled that in recent times extremists of Northern origin including Alhaji Lawal Kaita and gubernatorial candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Jigawa state during the last election, Farouk Aliyu, had publicly declared that unless the North won the 2015 Presidential election there would no longer be a Nigeria.
