Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi teams up with Caitlyn Jenner to draw support for gay people in Africa




Nigerian gay rights activist ‎, Bisi Alimi, met and had a chat with world famous Transgender Caitlyn Jenner at the Aspen Ideas conference in Colorado, USA during the weekend.

Bisi used the opportunity to get Caitlyn’s views on the way transgenders are treated in a short clip he posted on his Instagram page.
Caitlyn also lamented how her (his) transgender show was banned in Nigeria, the show on E! 'I am Cait' which centres around Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender woman formerly know as Bruce Jenner (Originally a man) was yanked off by Multichoice Nigeria following complaints from Nigerians on it's negative effect on our cultural values.

Bisi Alimi, who is now 41, became popular in 2004 when he became the first Nigerian gay man to appear as 'GAY' on a Nigerian national television as a guest on Funmi Iyanda's show New Dawn with Funmi, a talk show on the NTA. That same year, Bisi had been diagnosed with HIV, and on the show Alimi confirmed his sexuality as a homosexual and asked for social acceptance from the public.

However his decision to come out of the closet generated into death threats, Consequently, Alimi was disowned by his family and he relocated to the United Kingdom.
